a bit on me...

Visual Magician & Storyteller

I’m Eden Martinez (They/Them), a latinx queer filmmaker, born and raised in New York City. My work centers women, lgbt+ and POC folx through a jubilant and aesthetically harmoninstic lens, reflecting on themes of identity and  intersectionality.

I take inspiration from the work of Steven Spielberg, Hirokazu Koreeda, Adrienne Marie Brown, Tato Laviera, Bell Hooks, Audre Lorde, Malcolm Gladwell, Alexis Pauline Gumbs, Chico, and feel free to email for my ever growing list :)

My film education began at age twelve, when a local after school center put a camera in my hands and let me play. I found voice, freedom and expression through filmmaking and still do. I’ve had an unconventional education, much driven by being an ambitious self starter and having incredible mentors/collaborators along the way.

This includes mentorship in editing from Chris Chan Roberson of NYU, attending and leaving the prestigious college of Staten Island, membership of the Filmshop, board member of Moonshot Initiative, and a variety of agency work as a producer and director for clients like the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, Conde Nast, Google, and HBO MAX, and a variety of independent film projects of all shapes and sizes.

Currently my days are occupied with development for the feature film  "After Closing" (adapted from a short of the same name), directing episodes of "Late Stage Live!" (Youtube Series, 20K+ Subscribers), and directing  or producing work that align with my mission and values.

When I'm not working, you can find me with my dog Osita and partner Jacqui, deep in thought at a coffee shop, or in a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class.
